How to Upload Files using FTP

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the standard way to upload files to the Web.

The best way to do this is with specialist software that tracks the success of the uploads and allows you to change attributes of Web Folders.

My Tool of choice is FileZilla which you can Download for free. This Software works with most popular Operating Systems.

In the FileZilla Tool Bar under File -> Site Manager you can enter details for your Web Sites such as FTP URL, FTP User Name and Password. Under the Advanced Tab you may also specify the default local Directory for the Files for the Web Site.

Once you Connect to the Web Site, simply navigate to the Directory on the Web Site where you want to upload files, and drag them over or double-click them. Then the transfer should begin.

Right-clicking on uploaded Files will give you a list of actions that you can perform on them such as Delete.

You may also Download (copy) Files by Dragging them back to your computer.
